Partnership Missions

I believe the heartbeat of any congregations is what they will do with the Master’s Call to ‘GO’ into all the world and preach the gospel. Last week and this morning, I’ll be finishing up a two part sermon about our church possibly partnering with a church in Mexico City to help them reach 15,000 lost people with the gospel. Today I am praying for the Holy Spirit to help me give a clear presentation of the message so they can pray over the next two weeks what they sense the Lord is saying to our fellowship about this opportunity. I want every person that attends CSBC to commit to praying at least 15 minutes a day about this opportunity. I believe in prayer and I believe if we are faithful, the Lord will speak to His people and give clear instructions about this new ministry. I can’t make anyone pray, but I will trust that those who say they will pray, will PRAY and SEEK the face of God in the coming days. I know the Lord has already spoken to a couple of people about being ready to go on a mission trip, so Lord, I am praying you keep speaking and we’ll keep hearing so we can be ready to ‘GO’.

HEAVEN part 2

I’m finishing up a two part sermon on Heaven this morning. Wow, when John saw Jesus he fell at His feet as dead. We take this for granted in our day and time. We think we’re going to walk up to Jesus and greet Him like a long lost friend, but it won’t be anything like that. We’re going to be awestruck at the glory and beauty of the One who died for me. I’m praying the Lord allows me and gives me the freedom to ‘preach on’ about Heaven today. I want our people to be looking forward to our eternal home. I believe that homecoming is sooner than we would ever imagine. Jesus said He was coming quickly, and John said, ‘come Lord Jesus’. I wonder if we (I) could say that today?  How about you. See you in church

HEAVEN!

Today, I get to preach on HEAVEN!  Do you know most people don’t even think about heaven these days?  Most people don’t even talk about heaven either. That amazes me because Heaven will be our final stopping point where we’ll get to spend all eternity with Jesus Christ.  So, my goal today with the help of the Holy Spirit is to whet your spiritual appetite about the literal place called Heaven. Jesus said, He was going to prepare a place for me, and for us and that He would come back one day and take me/us to that place He has prepared, Heaven. Now if Jesus said it, then I believe it to be true. He’s never made a promise He didn’t keep and I’m looking forward to that time when I can call Heaven my eternal home. Oh wait a minute, I can call Heaven my home because I have placed my trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. With that being the case, the Bible tells me that my name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I have the right paperwork, I have the right documentation, I have my spiritual passport to get into Heaven. It’s not because of what I’ve done, but only because of what Jesus did on the Cross by giving His life so that I might have eternal life with Him. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.  Looking forward to seeing you all this morning and seeing the Lord bless His people

“State of the Church Address”

Today, January 16, 2011, I get to preach what I’ve called ‘The State of the Church Address’ to our sweet fellowship. I’ve done this for the last several years and it has become my favorite message to preach during the entire year. This year, I’m going to use this past year as a springboard into the future of our mission as a fellowship. We’ve made some changes this past year and more to come I’m sure in the days/weeks. I’m praying that as the Lord leads me, that He continues to lead ‘us’ so that we can carry out the mission He has set before us as a church family. My greatest challenge to everyone today is to ‘prepare yourselves to cross over the Jordan’. What I mean is that God is wanting to do something extraordinary in your life today and this year, but you have to put yourself in the position to be ready. That’s what Joshua commanded the people to do, he said ‘prepare yourself TODAY, because the Lord is going to do a miracle in front of you TOMORROW.  Did you get that?  You have to meet His conditions before He shows you Himself. I believe the Lord has so much more for us, but we must do what He asks or we won’t see the blessings, nor will we receive the blessings He has for us. So, let’s come ready to hear the Word of God and respond to the call of God on our lives today and until Jesus comes!

Sunday School

Today I’m going to bring recognition and attention to the Sunday School. Why is S.S. so important? Why should I attend? What part do I play in the S.S.? Where did the Sunday School come from anyway? I hope to answer those questions this morning in my message at CSBC. However, I do want to say that from the day I accepted Christ as my Savior and Lord I’ve been in Sunday School. If you are reading this post and you do come and participate in S.S., praise God for you and I know you are blessed by being a part. But, if you aren’t coming to Sunday School, no matter what age you are, you should make an effort to come and help strengthen the body of believer’s at CSBC.

I personally believe the Sunday School is one of the strongest ‘arms’ of the church. You get a foundation of the Word of God, you get a chance to fellowship with other believer’s. You get a chance to share your input into the lesson being taught. And, God blesses the person who is serious about learning more and becoming a disciplined believer. So, this week and for the next year, COME TO SUNDAY SCHOOL!      (Try it, you’ll like it, I promise)  Blessings, Bro. David

Happy New Year in the Lord

Happy New Year and can you believe it’s 2011?  It’s another day, but it’s a NEW DAY in the Lord. Today I’m excited to preach the Word of God to our great church family. It’s going to be a challenging Word I pray, but I trust everyone gets totally serious about their relationship and commitment to the Lord. I believe TIME IS SHORT, Jesus is coming and He will come for those who are ‘expecting’ Him to come and are ‘working’ for Him in the Kingdom work. In two weeks I’ll be bringing my ‘State of the Church’ address. In that message, I hope to bring inspiration to our people to serve the Lord with all their hearts. These are great days to be serving the Lord Jesus Christ and I don’t want you to miss out on anything He has for you. So, I’m going to do the very best I can to put a post on this blog once a week. I want to do it every Sunday morning so you can read it before church and be expecting the Word when you come. Until then, let’s praise the Lord together in the house of God!

Deer Season

Well, I’ve been out three or four times already, even in two separate locations in Missouri, but as of yet I haven’t shot a deer. That means no meat in the freezer for the winter. I did have an opportunity in Vienna on Friday morning, but I was too slow with my gun and the doe ran off where I couldn’t get a shot. I’m proud to see others getting their deer for the year, especially the younger ones, they get so excited. So, I’ve got two more cracks at it on Mon/Tues so let’s see where that gets me. I’m grateful to those who allow me to hunt on their property, I hope I’m able to harvest a nice deer before Tuesday night.

Anyway, getting ready for church this morning. The sun is shining brightly, and we want to lift up the Son, Jesus Christ in all we do today. We’ll start off with another baptism and looking forward to seeing other families come forward and join our fellowship today. Bless the Lord, Bless His Holy Name.  See you in church!

Veteran’s Day

Thank You to all of our Veteran’s!  What an awesome responsibility, what an awesome duty to serve in our armed services and to provide protection for our nation and to sustain our freedoms. I always try to say thank you to those who have served, and continue to volunteer to serve our nation throughout the world. I think all of us either have family members who have served, some have lost their lives in battle and some are serving presently in various places around the world.  My dad served in the Army during the Korean War. My Father in Law served in the Navy during the Korean War. My Grandpa Lambert served during WWII, being blown off a ship, yet having his life spared receiving two Purple Hearts for his service. Now my Neice’s husband serves our military as a Marine pilot and just returned from his third tour of duty overseas. These men and women work hard, serve well and are to be commended for their service. I celebrate along with millions of others today to pray for, thank and salute our service personnel. Thank you and God bless you.

The Spirit of the Lord

We’ve been blessed the last several weeks to have God’s presence with us in our worship services. We’ve seen the Spirit move in the lives of people like never before and people have been responding in obedient ways. Never, never take the presence of God for granted. Please hear me, when the Spirit of the Lord is in this place it’s because the Lord is wanting to deal with the hearts of the people of God. So, let me encourage you when you come into the house of God that you are always mindful that God is wanting to deal with the hearts of people. This morning as I continue to study and pray over the message the Lord has given me, I am asking for a fresh filling of His Spirit and a fresh move by His Spirit in our services today. So, pray for the Lord to speak through me today as His instrument and allow the Spirit to deal with the hearts of people today. Amen

Disciple Now Weekend

From what I’ve seen and from what I’ve been hearing, our Disciple Now Weekend has been blessed by the Lord in a powerful way. I am so pleased that our church has leaders that ‘care’ about the lives of our youth and their commitment to Christ. This morning, we as a church family will get to celebrate what the Lord has been doing over the last couple of days with our youth, but more importantly, we ‘GET TO’ come together as a body of believers and hear the Word of God challenge us again to a right relationship with God. So, let’s pray and let’s create the atmosphere for the Spirit of God to work in a powerful way in our services this morning and pray for Doug Compton our guest speaker to be filled with the Holy Spirit as he preaches.

On a separate note, Teresa and I will be attending the Missouri Baptist Convention this week, Mon-Wed in Springfield, MO. This is always a time of encouragement and an opportunity to catch up on what the Lord is doing in and around Missouri with some of our local churches. We’ll be back in plenty of time for our WNW services. Blessings
